The Buttery Restaurant is one of the few family-friendly restaurants left in Newmarket, Ontario, that offers consistently good and plentiful food. The staff are friendly, warm and always willing to help. The restaurant caters to all ages, but I have noticed it generally has an older crowd, who are returning customers. And, the desserts are home-made!
Best restaurant I’ve been to in Newmarket, very vintage feeling on the inside, older and clean and well kept. Staff are friendly and easy to talk to, doesn’t feel like I’m in Newmarket. Will come back for sure, some of the best salad I’ve had!

We stumbled across this restaurant looking to grab breakfast in Newmarket. The environment is clean, well organized and you can tell it's a well run establishment. The staff are super friendly, attentive and fun! Actually the chef and one waitress have been cooking and serving great food for 34 years at The Buttery. I've traveled the world and enjoyed eggs benedict in many international regions. The dish I experienced today topped them all and the flavors and egg consistency were spot on! Our coffee was never empty and our server was extra generous. Thanks for a great experience, it was appreciated !
The food is excellent and homemade. It has been to a few years since I visited The Buttery but recently I returned and compared to all the other eateries in the interim, I don't know why I left. Service - Excellent. Noise was quieter than most other restaurants but it is a bit darkly lit.
Have been going here for so many years and always so amazing!! Great food and service. The staff are all so welcoming. Their side Caesar salad or meal one with chicken added is great as is their souvlaki and chicken parm meals!... amazing desserts too!
My best friend and I came here on his wedding day, and we were absolutely amazed by the quality of service and hospitality. The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming, making us feel right at home—even as we were vlogging! The hospitality was top-notch, and we both thoroughly enjoyed the food. I had a personal omelette, and my friend got pancakes—both were delicious and well-prepared. I enjoyed it so much that I came back the very next day and was met with the same warm welcome and friendly faces. The prices are very reasonable for the quality of food and service, making it 100% worth it in my opinion. I would definitely return and highly recommend this place!
Ambience of this restaurant was impeccable. Staff were friendly and warm. Host was welcoming. Lighting was good. Restaurant was super clean with set tables and beautifully decorated. Appetizers were very tasty and entrees were good portions with high quality food items. Great value for portions served. Full wine list and abundant selection of coffees and desserts. Would definitely go again. Great for couples, families, gatherings and socials.
